What the Mediterranean Travel Association (META) proposes
imgMETA is an apolitical and non governmental, non profit association. For our initiative to be successful, this choice is decisive, given that relationships between the region’s States are still difficult, and therefore not highly productive in terms of optimizing the travel and tourism economy in the region.

META’s aim is to give professionals from the private and public sectors of tourism and travel in the zone the opportunity to group together.

img A STRONG INTERNATIONAL PRESENCE
The Mediterranean is the world’s leading tourism destination. All the outbound tourism destinations, on all five continents, send tourists to Mediterranean destinations with prospects (producers, distributors, transporters) numbering hundreds of thousands.

META is setting up a powerful communication network which will ensure its members maximum coverage in all the outbound markets.

  • A Board of Directors stemming directly from the General Assembly of its members

  • A bilingual web site (French / English), presenting the association, its members, its events (with available online subscription and payment) and programmes. Members will have access to several pages on the extranet showing the day’s statistics, short-term (six-monthly) and medium-term (one year) projections for tourism activity, studies available, expertise in environmental protection and sustainable development (in co-operation with the Environment DG of the European Commission).

  • A newsletter, widely distributed among tourism professionals all over the world (2008 goal: 10,000 addresses), grouping together the main news about tourism activity in the Mediterranean region (new investments, META’s position on regulatory changes, association life, opportunities, presentation of members’ offers, etc.).

  • A multilingual General Management and its operational services, located in France and in constant contact with the Executive Committee of the Association.
